How we teach

MCS is a certified Teaching for Transformation school: students learn to see God’s story in every subject and to take part in it through real work that matters. Learning is project-based, with field work and authentic audiences, and students become leaders of their own learning as they set goals and reflect on their progress. Smaller class sizes let teachers differentiate instruction, and Student Support Services help every learner thrive.

Students study history, math, science, geography, social studies, languages, art, drama, physical education, music, technology, and Bible.

Faith every day

Bible is taught daily, and the whole school gathers for assembly every Friday morning. Assemblies are non-denominational, and parents are always welcome.

Learning outdoors

Each class spends full days of Forest School at the Bracebridge Resource Management Centre in three seasons, and our 10-acre property in Port Sydney makes outdoor learning part of everyday school life.

Student life

• Buddies: older and younger students are paired up, meeting weekly and sharing lunch monthly.
• Colour Crews: four school-wide teams that come together for a monthly Crew Day.
• Leadership Crews: students in Grades 1–8 serve the school, from the Tech Team to Kiss ’N Ride caretakers.
• Drama: a school-wide Christmas musical in the fall and a production in the spring.
• Sports: recess intramurals, Track & Field, and Jump Rope for Heart, with soccer, volleyball, badminton, and hockey teams for upper grades that compete against other Christian schools.
• Celebration of Learning: every spring, alternating between STEM and the arts.
